History
The Warsaw University Law Review is a journal created by students at the Faculty of Law and Public Administration of the University of Warsaw. The Review is published twice a year, both in paper and electronic form. In order to widen readership and increase its impact, the Review welcomes texts in both Polish and English. The Editorial Board of the Review is dedicated to selecting and publishing the most valuable works by authors from all over the world and in all branches of law. All manuscripts published in the Warsaw University Law Review are subject to external double-blind review.

The Editor-in-Chief of Warsaw University Law Review is Professor Adam Bosiacki. Editorial Board consist of students and PhD students. The Editorial Board is fully responsible for functioning of the journal which includes all editorial work – selection of submitted articles, language and formal edition and preparation for publishing.

Focus and Scope
Warsaw University Law Review, published constantly since 2002, is a renowned publication of the University of Warsaw. It is produced by students and aims to publish high-quality academic papers.
Preliminary Peer Review Process – prior to the double-blind review
Warsaw University Law Review thoroughly analyzes all submitted papers. Our selection process consists of several stages. Each piece is evaluated, with respect to its substance and as to its compliance with the Citation Guide, by at least two editors. The said analysis is primarily focused on the detection of plagiarism and other forms of unfair usage of intellectual property. Subsequently, papers are subject to debate in the forum of the entire Editorial Board. As a result, selected manuscripts are accepted for the double-blind review procedure. Our of concern for the highest quality of published papers, Warsaw University Law Review does not omit any of the above-mentioned stages. Hence, please understand that our selection process takes time.
Editor’s Duties
An editor evaluates submitted papers in an objective and fair manner. Factors such as Author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, political beliefs or affiliation remain irrelevant for the assessment. Papers are being evaluated in terms of their originality, scientific value, transparency of the discussed issues, topicality of the presented research and compliance with the Citation Guide. An editor does not disclose any information related to submitted papers to persons who are not participating directly in the publishing process. An editor strives to eliminate all manifestations of plagiarism and ghost-writing. In case of an infringement of the Editorial Policies, author has an opportunity to respond to the charges brought against him within 14 days. If no reply is received within the prescribed period or the received replica raises serious doubts, Editorial Board sends relevant information to the institution in which the Author is affiliated.
Author’s Duties
An author submits only an original and previously unpublished materials. An author declares that he or she has the right to dispose of submitted materials. Papers that have been previously submitted elsewhere will not be accepted. A submitted article should be in accordance with the Citation Guide. Considerations contained in a submitted article should be clear and legible, so as to enable to trace the author’s reasoning. A submitted article should take into account the current state of knowledge. Research findings should be analyzed and described in detail. Authorship of the submitted article can be affiliated to a single person, pair, or a group of people. Authorship can solely be attributed to a person who have had a significant impact on the concept, assumptions, methods, research and interpretation of their results. All persons who have made a significant contribution to an article must be listed as co-authors. Person submitting the article should disclose the scope of contribution of each individual author to the creation of the work and make sure that all co-authors agree to the publication of the text in the form in which it was sent to the Editorial Board.
Peer Reviewer’s Duties
Peer reviewer actively participates in the publishing process. His or hers primary duty is to provide a written review. The content of the review may affect the final form of the paper under consideration. To be successfully implemented into a paper, any changes suggested by the Peer Reviewer must be conclusively approved by the Author. A peer reviewer should provide an opinion within the time limit previously agreed with the Editorial Board. The content of the review is confidential and should not be exposed to persons not directly involved in the publishing process. Each review must be objective. The Author’s identity remains unknown to the Reviewer. Comments contained in the review relate to the text and are adequately argued. The reviewer indicates, if necessary, the substantive deficiencies of the work, seeking to detect any cases of plagiarism and ghost-writing.
Join Us
Recruitment to Editorial Board takes place once a year in the autumn. Every year on our facebook page appears an event providing detail information about date for submitting applications. Any student of the Faculty of Law and Administration can participate in the recruitment. It is a two-step process: written one and the second is a meeting with selected candidates.
Written part
1. Discussion of the selected legal problem raised in the judgement of the Supreme Court (in 2019 it was judgement of SN with reference number IV CNP 31/17). The commentary should be up to 500 words long (including footnotes). The crucial aspect of the written assignment is clear indication and short overview of the legal problem with sources recalled.
2. Correction of the presented fragment of passage taken from the article.
Both tasks should be sent in doc/docs format to przegladprawniczyuw@gmail.com (e-mail subject: RECRUITMENT). Your email should contain an information about the year of study.
